The Scarlet Letter #1

No, not the scarlet letter, A for adultery, that Hester flaunted by embroidering it in bright red on her blouse.  No, I'm referring to the big red N on my forehead - nerd.   I was delighted (enchanted?) by Harry Potter.   Eagerly anticipating each new book and movie.  So, when the idea of a Harry Potter tour of Edinburgh came up, our group was in.  Of course, this is all about JK Rowling.  The things and places which inspired her.  To quote Stephen King "JK Rowling's brain should be insured by Lloyd's of London".  So, grab your broomstick, and come along.

Scottish word of the day:  close or wynd - an alley or lane (a close had gates at both ends and could be locked at night)

Gemma.  What better start than the cemetery which inspired the names of two characters.

She envisioned the character in the movie "The Prime of Miss Jean Brody", starring Maggie Smith.  Rowling  specifically requested Smith for this role, who refers to it as her retirement fund.

Barrister Gilderoy worked here in the early 1600's.

Or, in American-speak, the second floor.
