Luck: A Tale in Two Parts #5

Part I- Weather

We knew from the start about rain.  The climate charts showed an average of 11 days of rain in June. We were prepared.  Ready.  First day of walking - 40% chance of rain.  Our longest day, 15 miles.  We hiked all morning to blue skies, punctuated with white drifting clouds and a light breeze.  Four hours.  After lunch, a light rain started, about 2 1/2 hours of walking.  About 40% of our day.  Good enough.  Next 4 days, 70% chance of rain predicted.  Actual rain experienced - 0%.

Scottish word of the day:  doocot - dovecote

Elie to Anstruther - 6 miles

Lady Janet Anstruther built this "Lady's Tower" as a summer place and changing room for when she went sea-bathing.  She sent the bell ringer around the town each time before she went swimming to warn the townsfolk to keep away.

Doocot.  A sign of wealth and privilege during the Middle Ages.  The raising of doves and pigeons provided food.

Part II - Health

One of our members can definitely recommend ciprofloxin for "traveler's diarrhea".
