Quest in Queensferry #3

Return with us to our arrival in North Queensferry.  Over the railroad bridge crossing the Firth of Forth and settling into our accommodations.  Tiny.  Cold (heat off for the season).  Time to go in search of interesting sidelines in the travel book.  Deep Sea World.  You bet.   Now, walk with us over the Firth car bridge, back toward Edinburgh.  One mile of perfect pedestrian/bike trail on a sunny day.  Travel with us to Tesco looking for a bottle of whiskey.  Watch as I accidentally set off the alarm by pushing through an emergency-only door.  Next, accompany us as we wend our way through South Queensferry looking for Hawes Inn.  Reportedly, the setting of the kidnapping of David Balfour in Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped", as well as Sir  Walter Scott's, "The Antiquery".  Found.  Listen to the barman's story.  RLS regularly walked from Edinburgh along the coast to Hawes Inn.  He would drink and sometimes spend the night,  He often mused that he felt like an adventure was about to happen.  When it didn't he wrote it himself.  A happy day concluded by catching the train back.

Scottish word of the day:  den - dale or glen
